Gov. Fubara Reassures Nigerian Navy Of Support

Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday received the newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at Government House, Port Harcourt, assuring him of Rivers State’s continued support in strengthening maritime security and protecting the state’s economic assets.
Governor Fubara congratulated Vice Admiral Abbas on his appointment and commended his distinguished record of integrity, leadership, and professional excellence.
He reaffirmed Rivers State’s commitment to working closely with the Nigerian Navy to secure strategic waterways, safeguard coastal communities, and protect vital national infrastructure, especially within the state’s oil-rich axis.
“I want to thank the Nigerian Navy for protecting our people and our environment.
Your work is not just a duty; it is a shared responsibility that ensures the safety and prosperity of Rivers State,” the Governor said.
The Governor further pledged continued support for naval operations, assuring that the state government will provide all necessary assistance to enhance security activities in the region.
He also invited the Naval Chief to tour the state and experience the warmth and hospitality of Rivers people.
Vice Admiral Idi Abbas expressed deep appreciation to Governor Fubara for his unwavering support to the Nigerian Navy.
He recalled the state government’s previous provision of six security gunboats and infrastructure support for naval personnel, describing the gesture as a strong demonstration of partnership and commitment to national security. Rivers State and the Nigerian Navy continue to consolidate their collaboration, working hand-in-hand to strengthen security, promote stability, and ensure the safety and prosperity of residents and businesses across the state.
