Rivers Deputy Gov, Prof. Odu Likes Building Of Place Of Worship Of God To King David’s, Solomon’s Biblical Account

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has said that building a place of worship is a significant privilege and honour granted by Almighty God, likening it to the biblical account of King David and King Solomon.
Prof. Odu made this statement during the dedication service of the Assemblies of God Church auditorium in Akabuka, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), on Sunday, 28th December, 2025.
While commending Dr. Andrew Igwe for his outstanding contribution to the acquisition and construction of the new church building, Prof. Odu also praised him for his extensive community development efforts, which include the provision of scholarships and assistance to hundreds of individuals.
The Deputy Governor encouraged all attendees to emulate Dr. Igwe’s spirit of generosity, stressing that even small contributions towards the work of God are valuable and attract divine blessings.
According to her, the newly dedicated church is not merely a structure but a symbol of hope, unity, spiritual renewal, healing, and a source of blessing and inspiration for the Akabuka community.
Prof. Odu expressed gratitude to the clergy and strongly urged the congregation to take ownership of the project by watching over it and preserving its beauty for future generations.
In his sermon titled “God Will Honour Those Who Honour Him,” drawn from 1 Samuel 2:30, the National Treasurer of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Gabriel Michael, emphasized that God honours those who honour Him and despises those who treat Him with contempt.
He noted that God Almighty, as the Creator and Giver of life and all blessings, is supremely deserving of honour, lamenting that some individuals, including leaders and politicians, choose to dishonour God by channeling resources towards evil and ungodly ventures.
Rev. Michael commended Dr. Igwe for his decision to honour God by acquiring land and constructing a modern architectural church dedicated solely to the worship of God.
In his address, Dr. Andrew Igwe, CEO and Founder of the Dr. Andrew A. Igwe Care Foundation, who solely built and equipped the church, disclosed that the project was a divine mandate initiated last year and completed within 19 months. Dr. Igwe attributed the successful completion of the project to God’s faithful provision of resources and expressed gratitude for the grace to witness and drive what he described as a great miracle.
