…Links Him to Multiple Homosexuality Allegations Since 2010
The Rivers State Police Command has declared one Aaugustine Eghoborr wanted over alleged involvement in homosexuality-related offences in Rivers State and beyond.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ademola Tuji, the police said Eghoborr is being sought following investigations into allegations of same-sex activities, which are prohibited under Nigerian law.
According to the statement, Augustine Eghoborr was allegedly caught in an intimate act with one Uche Friday by members of the OSPAC (ONELGA Security Peace Advisory Committee) in Igbo-Etche, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State on July 13, 2023.
The police said that when OSPAC members attempted to arrest both men, they reportedly fled the scene and went into hiding.
Members of the public were thereafter asked to provide useful information on their whereabouts.
Police authorities said further investigations into the matter confirmed the allegations. They also linked Eghoborr to an earlier alleged incident dating back to 2010 in Edo State.
According to the police, Aaugustine Eghoborr was allegedly involved in a similar act with one Felix Emu at No. 44 Igun Street, Sakpoba Road, Benin City, Edo State. During the reported attempt to escape arrest in that case, Felix Emu allegedly lost his life, while Eghoborr escaped and reportedly fled to an unknown destination.
The police said Eghoborr has continued to evade arrest, knowing he would face prosecution under the law.
As a result, a Magistrate Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State, alongside the Rivers State Police Command, has reportedly issued a warrant for his arrest.
