Traditional Ruler Appeals To Gov Wike To Tackle Sea Piracy
A traditional ruler in Port-Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Royal Highness Eze Owabie Tobin, has appealed to Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to give urgent attention to issue of sea piracy in the state and end the loss of lives.
His Royal Highness Eze Tobin, who is paramount ruler of Mgbundunkwu Community, made the appeal in an interview on Monday, saying that there was need for Governor Wike to ensure that security agencies stop the continuous attacks by sea pirates on the waterways.
He said while he would commend Governor Wike for providing gunboats for the security agencies in the state in the fight against sea pirates, there was need for him to ensure that the gunboats were put into use.
He regretted the loss of life of persons who were victims of attacks by sea pirates on Bille, Bonny and other waterways, on their way to or from Port-Harcourt, the state capital, saying that the waterways should be made safe for those living in riverine communities.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Eze Tobin, who is Eze Onumini I of Mgbundukwu Community, has appealed to Governor Wike to recognize him as a traditional ruler in Port-Harcourt City Local Government Area.
He said he had been assisting the Rivers State government in the protection of lives and property of people in his domain which cuts across Mile I, II and III, Diobu, in the local government area.
He commended Governor Wike for his achievements in the state since he started his second term and also commended the mayor of Port-Harcourt City Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Ihunwo, for restoring the garden city status of Port-Harcourt, the state capital.
