Obaseki Reveals Who Made Him Governor, Says It’s Not Oshiomhole
Again, Obaseki Carpets Oshiomhole
The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has rubbished claims that Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) helped him into power.
The Governor made the clarification on Wednesday in reaction to claims by some supporters of Oshiomhole that the APC chairman facilitated his emergence as governor of the state.
Obaseki who denied any such claims, further said he rather helped raise money during Oshiomhole’s campaign to become governor of Edo state.
Obaseki made his submissions while speaking at a meeting organised by members of the APC in the state to ratify the suspension of Oshiomole from the party. He categorically stated that no one made him a governor and that his emergence as a governor is by the grace of God.
Recounting his first meeting with Oshiomhole which he said was 12 years ago, Obaseki said they both shared a common interest in salvaging Edo State but all that has changed in recent times.
“I am not an ungrateful person. No one made me governor. I became governor by God’s grace, with the support of many other people. If God had said I would not be governor, no way would I have been a governor. It is wrong for someone to say he made me governor.
“No one gave me money. The funds Oshiomhole initially raised for his governorship ambition was raised by me in Lagos. If I can raise money for him for his election, why would I not be able to raise money for my own election.
“If you came into power on some basic principles, do not expect to change those principles because you have certain ambition. If you came to power believing no man is God, then the day you start to play God, you will get the consequences.” Obaseki said
Meanwhile, Naija News reports the crisis within the APC in Edo state is getting messier. So far, different factions of the party in Edo State has suspended Oshiomhole, Governor Obaseki and several other party leaders in the state.
The National body of the APC has since set up a committee to review current happenings in Edo State.
