The executive governor of Rivers State,Ezewon Nyesom Wike has praised the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E. A. Adeboye for the way and manner God uses the cleric to bless Rivers State.
The governor stated this on Sunday during the just concluded Holy Ghost Rally tagged ‘Divine Help’ which held at the Adokiye Amesimaka International Stadium Port Harcourt.
The governor who was excited by the presence of men of God at the special programme said: “Each time he (Adeboye) comes around to this state, there is always a blessing for us”.
The governor used the occasion to reiterate once again that Rivers State is a Christian state. “Anyone not happy, it is their business. Rivers State is a Christian State”. Governor Wike announced that any time he has the opportunity he would always declare it without mincing words.
In his testimony at the rally, the governor recalled that from March 9, to 3 April, 2019, he became the governor, “because of God.” Wike said: “But for God, the enemy would have conquered.”
He thanked the church for praying for God’s will which according to him has prevailed.
The governor commended a senior Pastor in the RCCG, Pastor Obunge for the initiative to clean Rivers State which was in tandem with the mandate of the Rivers Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA. He promised his support for the ministry’s initiative, ‘Pick That Trash’ which second phase was launched at the rally, with demonstration of new waste bins and trucks purchased by the ministry. The governor pledged the state government’s support with several trucks to help project the initiative which he noted is adding value to the state.
He concluded by saying that the rally organized by the church had always blessed the state any time.
In his sermon, the G.O of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye admonished Christians that the help of God is always on time and that God sends help from unexpected sources.
He also called on Christians not to be dismayed no matter their challenges, saying God can help when the hurts are overwhelming.
Governor Wike was at the rally in company of other political bigwigs in the state including, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, the State deputy governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG and the State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, among others who graced the occasion.
