R/S CAN Declares 3 Day Fasting, Prayers
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State chapter has declared a 3-day fasting and prayer beginning from Friday 31st January, -Sunday 2nd February,2020.
Speaking with newsmen in his office in Port-Harcourt, the state CAN chairman, Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa said while Christians in the state will observe the exercise in their various churches, on the last day being Sunday 2nd February Christians will troupe out in their numbers at the Isaac Boro Park by 12noon for the prayers, after which they will match down to the Brick House, Port-Harcourt to register their grievance against the Buhari Administration over his inability to contain the excesses of the Boko Haram terrorists group who appear to be on the mission to wipe out Christians in the country.
According to him,“we are very surprised and shocked at the gruesome murder of the CAN chairman in Adamawa State, Rev. Lawan Andimi inspite of the #50million ransom paid and another 2 million Pounds (about 1billion Naira equivalent) which the Boko Haram sect were demanding for before he was eventually murdered.
Apostle Dimkpa said CAN had expected the security operatives to intervened at this point to save the life of Rev.Andimi but that they looked the other way while the criminals had their way.
He said the Adamawa CAN State Chairman was killed not because of money but because he refused to denounce his Christian faith when he was forced to do so.
“The chairman was most gruesomely beheaded in this era just like what we used to hear million of years ago during the early Christians days”, he lamented.
Dr Dimkpa equally disclosed that they will also be protesting against the beheading of eleven (11) Christians who were separated in a passenger bus they were travelling with on Christmas eve at Maiduguri, the four(4) seminarians of the Good Shepherd Catholic Seminary in Kakau who were Kidnapped along Kaduna- Abuja road few days ago; the continuous incarceration of Leah Sharibu as well as abduction and killings of many Christians in the country recently.
Dimkpa said the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN) under the leadership of His Eminence (Dr) Samson Supo Ayokunle is actually the one who had directed for another nation –wide three day special fasting and prayer session after the one observed last week for the same course. The Rivers CAN chairman made it clear that it is only the restructuring of the nation`s security architecture that will solve the challenges if the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari is serious in tackling the security problem.
He wondered why the Service Chiefs who from all indications are incompetent cannot be removed and replaced by more competent and serious officers who are ready to carry out their professional assignment of protecting lives and property.
On why the Christians are still toeing the line of peace even when a portion of the bible says
“The kingdom of God suffered violence and that only the violent ones take it by force”, Dr Dimkpa said they still believe that the ominipotent God of vengeance will eventually do it for the Christians at His own time.
He however, advised Christians all over the world to be on red alert and vigilant. “They should be security conscious of their environment, search everybody that comes into the church and perhaps use the help lines that the security operatives have given out to the public on emergency situation.
