Prince Emma Anyanwu Commiserates With Wike Over Aide’s Death

Elder statesman and patron of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State council, Prince Emma Anyanwu has joined the union in commiserating with Governor Nyesom Wike over the demise of his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu.

According to him, he received the shocking news of the demise of Nwakaudu through a statement from the Commissioner for Information, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim on May 17, 2020.

Anyanwu noted that with Nwakaudu being a member of the NUJ family, journalists in the state and himself are at a great loss with the governor, his family, and the entire Rivers State.

His words: “We share with Governor Wike the pain associated with the sudden demise of Nwakaudu, who died in the line of duty at a time when the NUJ, your family and the state needed him most to drive the management of information as regards Covid-19, programmes, and policies of your administration.

 “We join you and the entire state in mourning the demise of a devoted and loyal coordinator of your information dissemination serving as a foot soldier to your information team.

 “Our prayer is that God should grant you, your family and the state the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

 “I want to assure you that the NUJ, Rivers will stand with you and the family of Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu in this challenging moment.

RSG Withdraws  Charges Against Caverton Helicopter Pilots

The Rivers State Government has withdrawn and discontinued the two separate charges preferred against two pilots of Caverton Helicopters Ltd and the 10 passengers on board before the Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate’s Court.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim said the withdrawal of the suits (PMC/532C/2030 and (PMC/533C/2020) was made through the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Consequently, the presiding Chief Magistrate, D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi Esq; has struck out the two charges and discharged all the defendants.
