RSHA Deputy Speaker Donates Palliatives To Constituents

To complement the continuous and  on going health and welfare efforts of Governor Wike to Rivers people, the Deputy Speaker of Rivers State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison, has donated N5m in cash as palliative to the vulnerables in his Constituency.

Making the donation, the lawmaker said he released the amount  to cater for the welfare of 1000 aged persons, including widows, pregnant women, and sick people were cushion the hardship they were going through as a result of the COVID -19 pandemic.

He noted that the said category of people depend on their relatives and children whose businesses and sources of income are affected by the lockdown measure that has become necessary in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.

The lawmaker who represents Ahoada East Constituency in the Rivers State House Of Assembly disclosed that he appointed a 5-man committee to drive the process to ensure transparency and asked the committee to develop further modalities for continuous intervention until the pandemic is over.

He maintained that Ekpeye irrespective of clan, Igbu or political party remains one and requires collective priority always.

The money will be N5, 000 per person when distributed to beneficiaries across the 13 wards and communities of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, according to  Rt. Hon. Edison.

Those appointed to drive the process are Bishop Clement Ekpeye of Anglican Diocese of Ahoada as chairman, Happy Bennett as vice chairman, Dr Edward Imo as secretary, Dr Mrs. Juliet Berewari as health adviser and Mrs. Dorcas Amos as welfare adviser.
