…As Factional Chair Calls For Justice
Irked by the tragic death of one Mr. Clement Elewa, a member of the Taskforce at the Okporo Tricycle Unit of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), a factional Chairman of the Tricycle Section, Chief Frank Nnadi has called for justice even as the alleged killer, Kelvin Omoba has been remanded at the Port Harcourt correctional facility.
He also appealed to security agencies to ensure that all those remotely and directly implicated in the murder of Elewa are arrested and brought to book.
Chief Nnadi who made the appeal outside the court room where Omoba was arraigned on Tuesday, said the deceased was until his death, a member of the taskforce loyal to the Chairman of a rival faction of the tricycle body.
This was after the accused was arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt declined jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
Chief Magistrate A.O. Amadi-Nna who directed that the case file be transmitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice, adjourned the matter to August 31st, 2020 since the charges are capital punishment in nature.
National Network gathered that Kelvin Omoba and three others who are still at large are facing two count charges of murder and conspiracy to murder.
Meanwhile, Cyprian Elewa, father of the late Clement Elewa in an interview, has urged the security agencies to arrest the other three persons that allegedly killed his son.
It would be recalled that last month, a member of the Keke Taskforce identified as Clement Elewa was hacked to death by colleagues at Okporo/Rumuodara axis of the East-West road because of five thousand naira as the commission of tickets due to him. It was during the incident, that Mr. Kelvin Omobawas arrested by the police.
