Ocean Marine Solution Face-off With Host Community Disrupts Economic Activities In Rumuolumeni

Iwofe-Rumuolumeni axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area was blocked Tuesday morning by tankers and heavy duty trucks causing residents to trek distances and disrupting economic activities.
The indigenes had blocked all the major roads ensuring no vehicle enters or leaves the community protesting the arrest of their CDC chairman, Mr. Ikexhi Williams and others.
They also alleged that Nigerian Navy personnel arrested the Employment Bureau Chairman, Nnmadi Noble Orluogele and other executive members following a dispute between the host community and Ocean Marine Solution, accusing it of operating clandestinely in the yard of the Navy.
Speaking to National Network, Emmanuel Ikenga who is a representative of the Community Employment Bureau, and member of CDC, Henry Amaewhule, described the situation as an insult on Rumuolumeni people.
They threatened to remain on the road until their leaders were released and the Company come to a roundtable with the community.
Also, the Chairman of the Peace and Harmonization Committee, Dr Collins Wagbara said the community wants their sons released before any discussion.
Meanwhile, the delegation from the Rivers State Government including officials of NNS pathfinder have met with the leadership of the community at the palace of His Royal Highness, Eze Ndubueze Wobo to prevail on the youths to clear the blockade mounted at the entrance and exit points of the area.
They have also assured the release of the five community leaders arrested by NNS pathfinder over allegations of kidnapping workers of Ocean Marine Solution.
However, Economic activities have started picking up with the opening of the road.
