Governor Nyesom Wike says the chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Obinna Anyanwu, is following in his footsteps in terms of carrying out projects that have meaningful impact on the people.
The governor stated this during the commissioning of an ultra-modern and multipurpose market at Ulakwo, Etche local government executed by the Obinna Anyanwu-led executive in the council.
Governor Wike, represented by the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Ambassador Desmond Akawor commended the council boss for a good job, pointing that the market will contribute immensely to the economy of the area.
According to the governor, “Obinna Anyanwu has set a bar for others to perform better than him, he is buying into my philosophy of doing projects and working till the last day in office.
Things are surely changing and I hope to commission more projects in this local government.”
He stressed that the market was central to Etche people and Rivers people at large, adding that it would improve commerce and give direct access to farmer to enable them sell their produce.
Governor Wike tasked the youth of Etche to put themselves together and not be misled by politicians who have nothing to offer the, unlike his administration that has proven prudent management of resources by doing meaningful and impactful projects in all local government areas of the state.
The chairman of Etche local government area, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu had earlier stated that the project was to provide a place for the people who are predominantly farmers to sell their produce and improve their economic wellbeing.
He disclosed that the market before now was as a shanty but that his administration decided to turn it into an ultra-modern edifice and make it more useful to the people.
Also speaking, Hon Tony Ejiogu, Ambrose Nwuzi, Allwell Onyesoh, and Rivers Commissioner for Urban Development, Austen Ben Chioma all commended the council boss for doing a good job and tasked him to even more projects for the people of Etche.
Onyesoh described the project as very significant as it provides an “avenue to complete the process of production” to enable the final consumer have access to different kinds of agricultural produce and products.
Austin Ben Chioma said the people of Etche are happy with the development programmes, of the council chairman, just as Nwuzi tasked him to carry out projects in all 19 wards of the council.
