Take Safety Seriously, RSG Warns

Residents in Rivers State have been charged to take the issue of safety very seriously.

Rivers State Commissioner for Special Duties, John Bazia, made the charge during this year’s World Safety Day in Port -Harcourt organized by the Port Harcourt branch of Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria.

Bazia noted that safety is very important and must be observed at work places, homes, on the roads and everywhere.

He further disclosed the preparedness of the State Government to partner the Institute of Safety Professionals to ensure that people take safety seriously.

Also speaking, the Rivers State Chapter Chairman of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, Mr. Foreman Onuoha assured that the institute would work to achieve excellent safety performance and create safety awareness through information dissemination, courses and seminars.

He stressed that the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria would do everything within their reach to promote, encourage and improve occupational heath safety and environmental procedures in the industries, public sector and institutions.

The Chairman of the safety professionals in the State said they also look forward to re-engineering occupational safety and health not only in Nigerian workplaces but also in all spheres of life by playing advisory roles to government organizations and the pubic as the need arises.

Mr. Foreman also intimated people on the requirement to join safety professionals, stating that it is important to those who wish to join them to visit their office.

The event featured lectures on health and what people need to do in order to live a safety and healthy life at all times.
