Inspite of the harsh warning by Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi that he should stop calling him leader, Senator Magnus Abe has insisted that the Transportation Minister is his leader and will continue to address him as such.
Abe who made this clarification in Port Harcourt, said he refers to Amaechi as leader to send a signal to all their members, no matter how aggrieved they might be that they should not abuse, but should rather be ready to work with him whenever he decides to allow justice to prevail in the party.
According to him, Amaechi is a honourable member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a former governor and a caucus member of the party and so deserves to be respected.
“I have never abused him publicly and had never tolerated anybody that abused him,” Senator Abe who is contesting for the governor of Rivers State on the platform of the APC next year said.
The Lawmaker representing Rivers South-East in the Senate denied accusation that he is being sponsored by Wike to disrupt the APC.
According to Abe, during the years he worked very closely with Amaechi as a commissioner under Odili, he did not betray the Transportation Minister and he, Amaechi did not call him a traitor or betrayer.
Senator Abe has been having a running battle with Amaechi over his stubborn determination to contest for the governorship of Rivers in the 2019 general elections against Amaechi’s advice.
Abe has set-up his own faction of the party, opened his own campaign secretariat in Port-Harcourt and installed his faction’s chairman in the person of Peter Odike. Serious political businesses are going on at his Waterlines Secretariat, where intending contestants into Rivers State House of Assembly had collected Intent and Nomination forms.
Abe himself has collected and submitted both his Interest and Nomination Forms.
These actions, have allegedly infuriated the Transportation Minister, and was aghast that the person responsible for them is still addressing him as leader, culminating in his alleged warning over the weekend that Abe should stop addressing him (Amaechi) as leader of APC in the State.
