Rivers Assembly Confident In Commissioner Designate, Mrs Aguma’s Ability

The Majority Leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule has described Barr. Mrs Ifeyinwa Aguma as qualified to serve the State as an Executive member of the State Council.

He stated this on the floor of the House when Mrs Ifeyinwa appeared for screening and confirmation.

According to the Majority Leader, who moved a motion that she be allowed to take a bow and exit the hallow chambers since the House had earlier screened and ratified her when she served as Commissioner for Women Affairs in Sir Celestine Omehia’s led Government, expressed confidence in her ability to deliver on any assignment that would be given to her.

He also described the nomination of the wife of the late Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Bar Emmanuel Chinwenwo Aguma , by Governor Wike as very perfect, adding that Mrs.  Aguma possess the requisite qualification as can be seen in her credentials made available to the House.

Affirming the Leader’s view, the lawmakers unanimously voted in favour of her ratification.

Mrs Aguma is the current National President of the International Federation of Women lawyers(FIDA) and was called to Bar 28 years ago . She had previously worked in the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, where she voluntarily retired as an Assistant Director and went into private legal practice. She is also an advocate for the women.
