…Say RSG Committed To Polio Eradication

The Rivers State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring Polio free Nigeria as well as the strengthening of Primary Health Care Services and Routine Immunization.

The State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo disclosed this during the meeting of the State Task Force on immunization at the Government House in Port Harcourt, on Thursday, 8thNovember, 2018.

Dr. Banigo said “Although we are free of wild polio virus which causes paralysis we still have issues of polio viruses that should be vaccine destroyed, these viruses are still hanging around the North East and North Western part of the Country”.

This according to her calls for serious concern, noting that we cannot afford to relent in our efforts to kick poliomyelitis out of Nigeria.

Also speaking the State Commissioner for Health Prof. Princewill Chike said the State Task force on Immunization headed by the Deputy Governor is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that members brain storm and plan on how to improve the health indices of the State.
