Why INEC Must Let Our Votes Count – PDP Faithful

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and community leader in Elioparanwo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Mr. Clifford Nnanta Wahunoro, JP, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that results collated from the State is accurately declared and without ambiguities.

Speaking to National Network reporters shortly after casting his vote during last Saturday Presidential Election at his Obio Akpor Ward 9, Unit 13 polling booth, Wanuhoro, a one-time member of Obio/Akpor Caretaker Committee said it would be unfair if INEC compromised with the results given the enthusiasm shown by people in the community to exercise their franchise.

He ascribed the large turnout of voters for the polls, to heightened discontentment with the government of the day, stressing that “we have all come to use our PVCs to chase out the bad government”.

The PDP faithful said the 2019 General Elections would be unprecedented in the annals of the State and Nigeria in general because of the hardship visited all and sundry by the APC-led federal government.

“Quite frankly, I have never witnessed such turnout in elections in the State.  It goes to show that people are not happy and have only been waiting for this election to come, to vote out the government at the center”, he said.

When asked if he would suspect foul play if his candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is not declared winner, Wanuhoro grimaced, warning that such action would tantamount to a big mistake.

“They should not try it if they want peace to reign.  Any foul play by INEC would generate protest.  It would begin from the Unit, to the chapter, to the Ward, to the Local Government and then to the State.  They should let our votes count or we no go gree”, he declared.
