FRSC Partners PH Chambers On Business, Safety, Others

The duo of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, PHCCIMA have agreed to a working relationship which covers safety, business and mutual service provision.

This was the consensus as the new FRSC Corps Commander, Mr. David Mandeh paid a courtesy call on the President of PHCCIMA, Chief Nabil Saleh at his office in Port Harcourt.

In his address, the Road Safety Corps Commander, observed that it was necessary to identify with a body that houses the business community in the State, even as he expressed his  interest in the membership of the Port Harcourt chamber, following his posting to Rivers State. He explained that part of the FRSC statutory responsibilities include, making the highways safe for motorists and other road users, apart from ensuring the road-worthiness of vehicles and recommending works and infrastructures with a view to reducing road carnages and ensuring safe monitoring environment for Nigerians.

According to him, transparency, timeliness, fairness and service orientation remained essential core values of the Commission.

He also shed light on some of the commissions processe’s about vehicle license among others. He said a significant objective of the FRSC for the 2019 is to reduce road crashes by 20 percent as well as reduce fatalities by 25 per cent.

Responding, PHCCIMA president congratulated the new corps commander on this transfer to Rivers State. He expressed delight that an experienced professional in road safety, security, law and business had been posted to the state to bring about positive development.

He said that PHCCIMA would be prepared to work with the FRSC in order to achieve a mutually beneficial objectives.

The PHCCIMA boss said, “We are happy you have given us enough insight into some of the FRSC processes, but we will invite you to come and talk to larger PHCCIMA gathering soon. We are aware of your intention to join the chamber, that will be one of the best decisions as the chamber will expose you to building your capacity in business, networking, access to finance, including local and foreign business linkages through the chamber’s trade groups, among others.
