…SPDC, Amayanabo, Others Fingered
The leadership crisis rocking the Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny seems not over. This is consequent upon several litigations instituted by three elders of the house against the tenure of the caretaker committee of the house, elected by the Jumbo Masses at a general meeting.
This publication reliably gathered that the Jumbo House of Grand Bonny Kingdom is now locked in a serious leadership tussle which borders on who controls the finances and resources of the house and other important issues among the 21 villages that make up the house.
So far, there have been serious court actions that have tactically divided the house against one another, with the Amayanabo of Bonny Kingdom and SPDC being accused of meddlesomeness on issues that concern the Jumbo Major House and upon the running of its activities and finances.
It will be recall that in a recent court order in suit No. BHC/101/2016 between Warialabo Sodienye and 2 others and Warialabo Prof. Jasper F. Jumbo, the Jumbo Major House Caretaker Committee and others (as defendants), the claimants in the matter had gone to court to restrain the caretaker committee as the leadership and government of the house. The court ruled that no action on Jumbo Major House as well as the 1971 Jumbo Major House constitution should be taken pending the substantive matter.
However, King Edward Asimi Dappa Pepple is said to have set up a committee headed by Se-Alabo Haniel Jack Wilson Pepple to wade into the dispute.
Meanwhile, when contacted on the issues bordering on leadership of the House, Chief Jasper Jumbo declined comment, maintaining that though, ruling had been given in his favour, a case was still pending in court in which he was a party.
