“We know that the future of our City, State and Nation lies on young people like you and soon we would be retiring for good and we expect you to take over and do much better”. She stressed.
Dr. Banigo expressed regrets about the negative publicity targeted at the State which according to her is mostly false and politically motivated because, there are lots of good things coming out of Rivers State.
She urged organizers of the Start-up Port Harcourt Week to make conversations on how we can shape the future of our great city Port Harcourt and how we can unlock its potentials beyond oil.
The Deputy said Rivers State Government’s ICT Department has a Tech Creek which is an innovation hub where young people can come together to brain storm and explore the digital space in order to take advantage of the digital economy.
She said the young people should disabuse their minds from the erroneous believe that there is no future if they do not secure a job immediately after graduation, noting that with their brains there are lots of things they can do without waiting for hand-outs from people.
Also speaking the convener of the Start-up Port Harcourt Week Bereni Fiberesima, said the Start Up Port Harcourt is an annual event that brings the tech Start Up ecosystem, academics and policy makers to connect, inspire, showcase, explore, launch products and participate in conversations that would shape the city future and unlock the potentials of the digital and the creative economy.
According to him, young people across the world are coming up with solutions that has turned into successful corporations and we believe we also have the potentials to turn our ideas into successful corporations.
