RSU Receives More Accolades Over Admissions Performance Merit Award

The Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt has continued to receive commendations from concerned Nigerians for winning the 2018 National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award courtesy of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The latest in the league of well-wishers is the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) who paid a courtesy visit the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Blessing Didia.

Led on the visit by its leader, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle Monday, the Christian body expressed its pleasure with the university, stressing that the award is an expression of determination by the university management of placing the institution on the path of excellence.

The CAN leader explained to the VC that they were in Port Harcourt specifically on a visit to the University Chapel of Redemption.

He expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his magnanimity and cordial relationship with the Churches on campus.

He similarly, enjoined the leadership of all the churches in the University to reciprocate the kind gesture of the Vice Chancellor by strictly adhering to the laws of the University and continue to pray for peace, development and spiritual well being of the University.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Prof. Blessing Chimezie Didia thanked the team for visiting the University.

While appreciating the founding fathers of the University for their significant roles in establishing the University, the Vice Chancellor, pledged not to disappoint them.

The University Don said his administration will continue to depend on God and would do everything possible in promoting the propagation of Godly attributes in the University and beyond.

The Vice Chancellor specifically, thanked the President, Christian Association of Nigeria who doubled as President, Nigeria Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle for the choice of the University Chapel of Redemption for his pastoral visit.

Recall that the Rivers State University was recently declared winner by JAMB in the category of the most improved institution over previous year’s intake of female students for which it was rewarded with the sum of N25 million.
