The benefitting communities of Rumuobiekwe, Mgbundukwu and Nkpolu-Oroworukwo have commended the state Chief Executive, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for considering them with a befitting flyover that would crisis-cross the Ikokwu Motor Spare Parts area and Ikwerre road intersection.

Speaking with newsmen during the official flag-off of the project, Mrs. Victoria Nwoke, Women Leader of Mgbundukwu Community; Hon (Mrs) Blessing Charles Amadi, Women Leader of Rumuobiekwe Community and Mrs. Chinyere Chinwo, Women Leader of Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Community all expressed their gratitude for the flyover project.

They agreed that it will not only improve the esthetic beauty of Diobu but would ease the incessant traffic jam in the area. They also agreed that the development is going to eventually route out the Ikokwu spare parts traders who have refused to relocate to their permanent site.

According to the women “we shall also be happy if the governor will remember to build for us a big event hall that will bring revenue to the communities.”

Mrs. Nwoke of Mgbundukwu Community appealed that the governor should use this opportunity to do their internal roads especially dualization of the Illoabuchi street.

Mrs. Amadi appealed to the traders and indeed all the road users to make sacrifices as the projects last as according to her, only change that is constant. “We would also like the governor to resolve the problems involved in the Mile 3 Ultra Modern Market, eventually allocate the market stalls to the beneficiaries and make it functional.

She equally appealed for improved security in the area especially during the execution of the contract work.

Mrs. Chinwo in her own remarks appealed that the Ultra Modern Market in Mile 3 Diobu should be renovated and traders forced into the stalls so as to clear the motor parks for vehicles which ironically park indiscriminately on the road.

The women group assured that they will cooperate with the contractor to deliver on their mandate as well help in keeping the area clean when completed.

Similarly, the Orochiri Community Women, Oroworokwu Community Women and Daughters of Orochiri Community confessed that they were excited over the construction of the flyover project at waterlines/olu-obasanjo intersection of the Aba road by the Wike administration.

Speaking with newsmen, over the weekend during the flag-off of the project, the Orochiri Community Women Leader, Mrs. Tina Anderson said their joy knows no bound for the project considering the holdup and accidents that the area is known for.

“The projects will empower our youths as the contract last. The flyover will when completed change the environment and bring development to our communities,” she said.

The Women Leader however used the opportunity to appeal for soft loans, more schools, health centre as well as additional transformers to boost electricity in the community.

She also appealed for government assistance for the women to develop their acquired property at Omagwa Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

In the same vein, the Orochiri Daughters Association, led by Mrs. Dorathy Weneda Robert was full of praises for the governor.

She too promised that they will do everything within their power to support any developmental effort that will come to their communities despite their being married out.

According to the Women Leader, “Apart from organizing seminars and workshops to redirect our youths in Orochiri, we have acquired large farms where a lot of the youths will be trained and make money for the community and by so doing remove their minds from crimes/criminality,” she said.

She also used the opportunity to appeal for soft loans from the state government to enable them realize their vision.
