Oforji Flags Off Construction Of Eke Oyigbo Market
The Executive Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon Prince Gerald Oforji (JP) has officially flagged-off the multi-million naira construction of Eke Oyigbo Ultra Modern Market, Phase two.
Speaking at the site shortly after laying the foundation stone of the building over the weekend, the council chairman thanked the host community (Umuwalia), the market traders and the Oyigbo Legislative Assembly for their support and cooperation towards the realization of the dream project.
He also extended his appreciation to the area council of chiefs of Eze –Ukwu III, Oyigbo Kingdom for their useful advice and support to his administration.
Hon. Oforji explained that the project which will be executed in phases for convenience sake, will house a thousand and sixty (1060) lock up shops and one hundred and eighty (180) open shops, promising to complete and commission the project within one year.
The council chairman further disclosed that the project when completed will take care of the street trading menace in the area and as well decongest the road for free vehicular movement.
The contractor, “Dee Royal Gold Funiture & Construction company Ltd.” through its Chief Executive Officer, Bro Richard Ohuche explained that the storey building shopping complex will have various facilities including cold room, fire service station, security post, toilets and parking space.
He appealed for the cooperation of the host community and the traders for quick completion of the project.
In their goodwill messages, the former Special Adviser to the governor, Hon. John Ndubueze Nwachukwu, the immediate past Caretaker Committee chairman of the Council, Hon. Ugochukwu Ejiri, the Supervisory Councilor for Works, Oyilga; Hon. Loveday Nwachukwu; Umuwalia Community chairman, Chief John Elechi; Councilor Ward 9, High Chief Chukwudi Onyegorom and Oyigbo Council Secretary, Chief Godson Nwachukwu all agreed in their separate speeches that the chairman has embarked on people-orieted project which will benefit all and sundry irrespective of their party leanings.
They also agreed that Oforji (jnr.) had performed beyond expectation due to his leadership style which they noted, had convinced even his political enemies.
They prayed for more grace and strength for the chairman to continue to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people and residents of Oyigbo.
