Students’ Welfare Is Our Top Priority – RSG
Rivers State Government has said that the welfare of students and pupils in the State is the top priority of the administration.
State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku disclosed this during a routine monitoring exercise of schools’ resumption in the New Year.
He reiterated government’s commitment to the provision of free and quality education, stressing that government’s decision on the NO FEE policy subsists.
Prof Ebeku who disclosed that Governor Nyesom Wike was committed to the full maintenance and financing of public schools in the state further clarified that all unapproved schools remain banned and their operations are illegal, and that parents should not patronize them.
On the resumption of schools, the State commissioner expressed delight over the compliance and turnout of staff and students and warned that the State Government will not tolerate laxity and truancy of staff to work.
He also promised that he will ensure strict supervision of school activities to check laxity and truancy of staff.
It would be recalled that Professor Kaniye Ebeku on assumption of duty in the ministry vowed to work assiduously to execute the NEW RIVERS VISION of the Governor in the education sector, while soliciting the support of the permanent secretary and directors of the ministry in driving the vision and the Mission of the Ministry.
