…As Elechi Apologizes To Ikwerre Traditional Rulers
The vaulting ambition of Chief Okechukwu Okah to replace the paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Elele Kingdom in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRM Eze Jonathan Amadi is tearing the once peaceful community apart.
Briefing the press Monday July 13, 2020 in Port Harcourt, Eze Mike Elechi said Okah who was crowned an ordinary palace chief some years back has not only been parading himself as “His Royal Highness” but is determined to pull everybody down who does not support his vaulting ambition to dethrone and replace the incumbent paramount ruler who is over 100 years of age.
The latest of such provocation he noted, is his attempt to malign him (Eze Elechi) with the Supreme Council of Ikwerre Traditional Rulers led by HRM Eze Chike Anderson Amadi Worlu Wodo (JP), Eze Onha Apara IV, King and Paramount Ruler of Apara Kingdom.
Eze Elechi not only denied what he described as “malicious news items making round the media by one Okechukwu Okah” against his person but used the opportunity of the briefing to render unreserved apology all the same to the Supreme Council of Ikwerre Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Chike Wodo, state governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and others for any embarrassment the mischievous rumour emanating from Mr. Okah and linking him, which he later realized as a set up, must have caused them.
Elechi recalled that this is the second time this year Okah is using the media to drag his reputation built over the years to the mud.
“His slander of 17th May, 2020 where he accused me of murdering a woman and aborting some women pregnancies (automatically) is a subject of ongoing litigation at the Rivers State High Court,” he said.
Eze Elechi who said he had wanted to ignore Mr. Okah as usual as according to him “Eagles don’t fly with duck” but that Okah has not relented in his bid to bring him (Elechi) down to his level.
“This time around, Okey Okah wants to set me up with our revered royal father to which God will not allow him.
As a responsible and thorough bred Ikwerre son, I hereby tender an unreserved apology to our Royal Majesty, Eze Chike Anderson Amadi Worlu Wodo (JP) and others involved in the said rumour” he declared.
For avoidance of doubt, Eze Elechi disclosed that he is an accomplished professional technocrat, a distinguished broadcast Engineer, unblemished civil servant apexing at eight years as permanent secretary in strategic ministries.
“Out of Services on voluntary retirement, I am a primous and accomplished entrepreneur in honest business of Agriculture, value chain and youth development in the State.”
He added that this is why he has continually refused to banter words with Okechukwu Okah whom he said is not in comparison with him.
Eze Sir Elechi also used the opportunity to display copies of correspondences written to Okey Okah, suspending him as a palace chief, and others warning him against his nefarious activities in the community, which is capable of causing breach of the peace including dividing the Elele council of chiefs and holding parallel meetings with them in a different venue.
