ADP Unveils Governorship Candidate, Lists Priority Areas

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Rivers State has unveiled its governorship candidate, Mr Victor Fingesi and listed areas of priority for the party.

In a statement at a press conference on Friday, August 19, the party’s governorship candidate Mr Fingesi listed agriculture, job creation and education as key areas of concentration if the party wins governorship election in the state.

He said: “Rivers State has all it takes to be amongst the richest in the world. We have the best terrain for all forms of agricultural production. With over 250,000 hectares of fertile arable land and rich waterways, Rivers State can lead an agricultural revolution across LGAs where we can grow our food and feed the rest of the world”.

He said that the major problem confronting the state is poverty saying it’s the reason there’s increased rate of crime and insecurity offering the party as credible alternative.

He said the state is poor despite its abundant human and natural resources.

Mr Fingesi also said that the party would make people of the state become self-sufficient through applicable skills saying “we will bring mentoring experts and skill trainers from functional economies to come transfer skills and knowledge to our people”.

He also said that the government formed by the party would invest in education: “We will invest in the education of our people at all levels of the society, in tech, formal and vocational forms of education with 25% of the state budget”.

He further said: “Our administration will turn our youths into globally competitive force and we will harness their full potentials in rebuilding Rivers State”.

I am Victor Fingesi and I am running for the Office of Governor of Rivers State in the 2023 election, he said. The party’s deputy governorship candidate is Pst. Belief Ekiye.

During question and answer, the party’s governorship candidate said the people of  the state would be better off with the ADP in power.

He said that there would be general computer education with internet across all the state free.

Mr Fingesi also said he’s not in politics to enrich himself but to bring modern development to the state.

The State Chairman of the party, Kendrick Christian, who spoke in an interview at the end of the programme, said: “We are presenting to Rivers people a credible alternative that will take us out of the sufferings, the poverty, the hunger, and Rivers people are just waiting for that exact day (in) February or March to vote for a credible alternative, Victor Fingesi”.

The party’s chairman said that their agenda cuts across agriculture, job creation and education and described Mr Fingesi as an excellent and passionate man that understands the pains of the people because he lives in the state.

Christian said that the ADP is not afraid of other political parties.
