Wike Advises Youths To Add Value To Society
The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, has advised youths to be innovative and add value to their societies.
Governor Wike stated this today while handing over cheques for scholarship to the last batch of Rivers indigenes who were beneficiaries of the NYSC Presidential Awards in his office.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, said that, the scholarship was given to enable them pursue higher education in their chosen career in any part of the world. He added that the advanced skills and knowledge that will be gained will empower them and make them contribute to the development of the state.
“I want to urge you to make very judicious use of the money given to you. Make sure you use it for the purpose given to you.
“The Governor has given you this award to fulfill his promise and his own part of the bargain out of trust that you would want to better yourself. Make sure you make good use of the opportunity to better yourself so that tomorrow we should be able to see you and see the progress you made.
He recalled that in August 2019, after the Awardees visited the Governor and he awarded the scholarship, only one of them who received early admission was able to depart the country before the global lockdown caused by COVID-19.
“Now that schools have started reopening, we present the Cheques to you to enable you do your masters in your respective discipline”, he added.
Earlier, on behalf of the recipients, Mr Cannon Otto, thanked the Governor for fulfilling his promise to the members of the NYSC Presidential Awardees.
He promised to stay focused and as well urged other youths to keep impacting their society.
The recipients are Mr Cannon Otto Chimenem, Mr Atukomi Wolebari, Mrs Anele Joseph Obiageri and Mrs Adiele Mariam.
