IOCs Should Do More For Usomini District – Eze Umejuru
A community leader in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), HRH, Eze Goodluck Ikechukwu Umejuru has decried the neglect sufferedby the people of Usomini District in the LGA following the failure of multinational oil and gas companies operating in the area to keep to their social corporate responsibilities.
Eze Umejuru who lamented this in an interview with journalists in Omoku, the local government headquarters recently, said despite what he called as ‘occasional drops’ of support from the International Oil Companies like Agip, Total, NLNG to mention a few, a lot more is expected from them to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
Umejuru who is the Eze Enyike 1 of Usomini South singled out Location Road in Idu-Obosiukwu Community which he described as a death trap due to the dilapidated condition of the road.
“This road needs very urgent attention to avert possible calamity. It is the only road that leads to the stream where heavy duty vehicles transport sand to their destinations. The road was constructed by our forefathers and it is very unfortunate that multinational companies who are reaping from the resources deposited in our land, would allow the road to degenerate to this level”, he cried out.
The Eze Enyike 1 of Usomini South, also appealed to the companies to provide educational scholarships for indigent students to study and create a good future for themselves and families.
He commended those he described as good spirited members of Usomini South for their humanitarian gestures and urged them to keep up the tempo. “I am particularly pleased with Prince Ekele Umejuru for his efforts to empower the youths of Idu Obosiukwu Community. More grease to his elbows”, he said.
The community leader also commended the monarch of Idu Ogba, Eze Uche Umejuru and the leadership of Idu-Obosiukwu as well as the Youths President on their effort to maintain peace in the community.
