Don’t See LG Election As Walk-Over, Akawor Tells PDP Candidates

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers State chapter, Amb. Desmond Akawor has called on the members of PDP in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area to take the April 17 Local Government elections with all seriousness.

Amb. Akawor who was represented by Sir Williams Fialaosika, the Vice Chairman of Rivers East Senatorial District, made the call during the PDP flag-off campaign in Ogu/Bolo, warning that candidates should not look at the election as a walk-over but should rather use it to show their voting strength.

According to him, the April 17 council elections should be seen and serve as a prelude to 2023 general election and urged them to put their house in order for total victory.

He described the chairmanship candidate, Barr. Nemieboka as well experienced who has served in various capacities and is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new office if elected.

He charged the campaign team to redouble its efforts in making sure that PDP wins by campaigning vigorously for the success of the party. He reminded the councillorship candidates to be mobilizers in their various units and wards and to work with the Chairmanship candidate for a better result.

The Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Chief George Thompson Sekibo also enjoined all legible voters in Ogu/Bolo to support the party by voting for all PDP candidates. Barr. Nemieboka, he said, is a man of integrity who stands for performance and development and should be supported.

The Chairman of the campaign team, Mr. Isaac Williams on his part, said he is very optimistic that PDP would deliver all their candidates in the election, stressing that the emergence of Barr. Nemieboka would ensure rapid transformation of the area.

He therefore, called on the people to vote for candidates of the PDP for both the councillorship and chairmanship positions.

Speaking earlier, the executive chairman of the LGA, Navy Capt. Erasmus Victor, said he was very happy that he would hand over to a capable hand that would pilot the affairs he has started.

He urged him to work closely with his vice and the councilors in order to sustain the New Rivers Vision in Ogu/Bolo Local Government.

Barr. Vincent Nemieboka, the chairmanship candidate promised to replicate the legacies of Governor Nyesom Wike in the local government and sued for peace and unity among members of the party in the area.

The highlight of the occasion was the handover of flags to the various councillorship candidates across the 12 wards of the local government area.

The event was attended by party stalwarts, including Hon. Evans Bipi, member Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Iyaye, Commissioner for Sports, Marcus Thompson, Ogu/Bolo PDP Chairman.
