Bakana Kingship Tussle: Lawrence O. Odum, Not Amanyanabo Of Bakana – Odum Barboy Group Of Houses
The battle for the vacant stool of kingship of the island town of Bakana, Degema Local Government Area has continued to rage with a disclaimer from the Odum Barboy Group of Houses, Bakana distancing themselves from the purported claim by Lawrence O. Odum as the Amanyanabo of Bakana.
The Odum Barboy Group of Houses, Bakana, in a 4-page disclaimer jointly signed by its Chairman, Chief Israel Abili Barboy and Secretary, Engr. (Chief) Okiye Evans-Senibo Will Braide as well as the Heads of the eight components that forms the group, stressed that Lawrence O. Odum “is not Amanyanabo of Bakana nor is he incumbent on Odum Barboy Stool and Head of Odum Barboy Group of Houses of Bakana”.
They added that whatever documents or purported consent judgment being paraded and flaunted from whatever court in the land, purporting to be endorsement from the Odum Barboy Group of Houses were, according to them, forged and fraudulently obtained and are thus of no consequence whatsoever.
They group said they are not unaware of the purported antics being applied by Lawrence O. Odum to get unsuspecting members of the general public as well as government and corporate concerns to promote him as Amanyanabo of Bakana.
“Lawrence O. Odum now goes about with a so-called ‘Consent Judgment’ supposedly issued by the High Court of Rivers state sitting in Bori, wherein the Royal Odum Barboy Group of Houses of Bakana and components thereof, have purportedly endorsed him as Amanyanabo of Bakana and Head of Odum Barboy Group of Houses of Bakana”, it said.
The Odum Bayboy Group of Houses said the so-called Consent Judgment being paraded by Lawrence O. Odum was given in February 2020 with a claim in its contents that the Defendants appeared in court whereas, they noted, none of them was served any Court Summons on the matter and ‘never did any of them appear in that court and under the Honorable Presiding Judge G.C. Aguma for the said matter or any other matter whatsoever’.
“The entire process reeks and smells of criminality – forgery and deliberate attempt to mislead a duly constituted Court of Justice in the land. Neither the Defendants on record nor any other member of the Odum Barboy Group of Houses of Bakana or the group nor any component of it is thus bound by whatsoever contents of the so called ‘Consent Judgment’ or whatsoever implications therefrom”, they declared, adding that a formal report of the ‘forgery, fraudulence and criminality’ of the matter have been forwarded to the appropriate security authorities for thorough investigations with the view to bringing all perpetrators to book.
