EMOLGA To Fast-Track Formation Of New Security Outfit

Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State says it will fast-track the formation of a new security outfit .

The Chairman of the Council, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, made the disclosure during a live radio programme in Port- Harcourt last week.

The chairman said following the outcry that trailed the killing of Alex Uwazuruike, leader of disbanded OSPAC, a local vigilante group, by suspected cultists in Umuodioga community, the council would  establish the new security outfit in no distant time.

The leader of the disbanded OSPAC was killed and body dismembered by his assailants.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident  disclosed that police  recovered the dismembered body and deposited it in the mortuary.

SP Omoni said that  Police had restored normalcy in the community while the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday ordered for investigation into the incident.

The killing comes barely three weeks after the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Council, Dr.  Lylod, reiterated the proscription of all vigilante groups in the LGA by his predecessor and had asked communities that make up the council area to submit five names of those who will be screened and admitted into a new security outfit to be established and funded by the council in no distant time.

National Network had reported attacks in communities like Ibaa and Egbeda in the LGA by suspected cultists before the latest attack in Umudioga Community.
