Bro Felix Obuah, Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) was over the weekend honoured for his philanthropic gestures.
Bro Obuah, a recipient of several honours and awards nationally and internationally had earlier been selected as one of the winners of 2021 DMOMA Awards, a yearly assessment of those who have excelled in their various areas of human endeavour by Qoorier Limited, organizers of the prestigious DMOMA Awards.
Singled out among the lot for his generosity, love and special care for the less privileged, the Church, scholarships to students, youth empowerment and promotion of sports, etc, Bro Obuah, the Mba-Anabara-Agu I of Orashi Region was honoured as Philanthropist of the Year for all his humanitarian services to humanity.
Also honoured at the epoch-making occasion was Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Robinson Dekor, the federal lawmaker representing Khana/Gokana federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
Rt. Hon. Dekor was honoured with the award of the Federal Lawmaker of the Year for his outstanding representation and contributions to issues of national significance in the blue chamber where he also serves as the Chairman, oil and gas host communities committee.
The recent award is yet another recognition for Rt. Hon. Dekor, a former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and one time Commissioner of Works in the State where he also performed excellently well in both capacities.
In the information and media management sector, the indefatigable publisher of the sizzling twice weekly, National Network Newspaper, Pastor Jerry Needam was honoured by the DMOMA organizers as the Journalist of the Year.
With an enviable rich record of information and media management at different times in different departments and agencies including Special Adviser on Media to the commissioner for information under the Odili administration, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the immediate past PDP Chairman, Rivers State, currently Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Sole Administrator, RIWAMA and for managing the most fearless muck-raking National Network Newspaper for 16 yrs running, Pastor Needam was justified as the best Journalist of the Year Award.
Congratulating the trio of Bro Felix Obuah, Philanthropist par excellence, Rt. Hon. Dekor, Federal Lawmaker of the Year and their very own Pst. Needam, Journalist of the Year for the honours, the management of National Network Newspaper, in a statement by the Editor-in-Chief/General Manager, Chris Konkwo, described the awards as most deserving and timely.
“Apart from according honour to whom it is due, the awards will serve as an encouragement to other managers and leaders in different areas of life as well as the budding ones to embrace hard work because it pays. Everything should not be quantified in monetary terms. This is one honour greater than money. We therefore congratulate and rejoice with you for achieving these feats,” the management declared.
