Group Backs Abe’s Guber Bid With Funds
A Group known as Ikwerre/Etche People’s Forum which called on Magnus Ngei Abe to declare and run for Rivers State Governorship election come 2023 recently has indicated interest to make funds available to Senator Magnus Abe to purchase the Governorship Intent Form.
The President of the Group, Engr. Emmanual Amadi gave this indication in an interview with the Journalists at the Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa on his way to Abuja.
Explaining the reasons for this, Engr. Emmanuel Amadi has this to say: “Senator Magnus Abe unbeatable records in the various capacities he served the state and nation is one that convinced us, that no doubt given him a chance will turn the state’s fortune around for better; Therefore, we the people of Ikwerre and Etche Ethnic Nationalities beckon on you Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to heed to our call and contest the 2023 governorship election. To add, we have made funds available for the purchase of nomination form for you, thereby matching word with action. This is to reciprocate the support we have enjoyed so far from the Ogonis” he submitted.
The Group in a Communiqué signed by The President Engr. Emmanuel Amadi and the Secretary, Hon. Leonard Nwankwo dated 11th March 2022 stated as follows:
“We the people of Ikwerre and Etche ethnic nationality comprising of Ikwerre, Emohua, Obio/Akpor, Port Harcourt, Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas on this faithful day, after wide consultation and agreement with our Chiefs and Elders in various Local government areas mentioned above hitherto make this communiqué presentation as follows:
“That we have chosen to give our support to Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe in his capacity and as an Ogoni son to declare and run for Rivers State governorship come 2023”.
The Group further gave their reasons for calling on Magnus Ngei Abe to contests as follows:
Ogoni where he comes from is the second largest populated ethnicity in Rivers State and have not been given the opportunity to produce Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker or Chief Judge of the state since the creation of the state;
“That Magnus Abe hails from the Senatorial District that have not produced governor in the state being Rivers South East Senatorial District while the other two districts have had theirs even more than once, e.g. Rivers East;
“That the Ogonis played a pivotal role through Senator Magnus Abe in making Ikwerre man governor in 2007;
That Senator Magnus Abe risked his life if not for God when he was shot at Arts and Science which led to the immediate redeployment of C.P Joseph Mbu in other to save and protect our sons job as Chief Executive of the State as at then;
“That Senator Magnus Abe supported and protected our son from being impeached by making case on the floor of the senate that led to the taken over of the State Assembly’s functions by the National Assembly;
“That supporting Senator Magnus Abe to Brick House will amount to putting a square peg in a square hole as he has the executive, legislative and judiciary experiences having been a commissioner and secretary to the state government, house of assembly and a Senator and as a lawyer he has the tenets of the Judiciary practice.;
“That supporting Senator Abe will NOT amount to waste of time and resources as we are confident that Senator Abe has the vision and capacity to win election and govern the state taking it to a better, greater and prosperous level that will create good opportunities to the inhabitants and generation to come;
“That his unbeatable records in the various capacities he served the state and nation is one that convinced us, that no doubt given him a chance will turn the state’s fortune around for better;
“Therefore, we the people of Ikwerre and Etche Ethnic Nationality beckon on you Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to heed to our call and contest the 2023 governorship election. To add, we have made funds available for the purchase of nomination form for you, thereby matching word with action;
“This is to reciprocate the support we have enjoyed so far from the Ogonis”.
