In a keenly contested election held at the Amuzi Town Hall on Saturday, April 16, 2022, business man and incumbent Chairman, Mr. Obinna Otuonye was returned unopposed while Mr. Cyril Onuoha became his vice.
The election also saw the emergence of Mr. Emmanuel Ibekwe, as Secretary with Mr. Harry Alimnu as Financial Secretary.
The positions of Treasurer and Provost went to Mr. Ugochukwu Nwosu and Linus Nwosu respectively.
Giving his charge while swearing in the new executive, Ugwumba (Chief) Paul Onyeaka urged them to uphold the APU constitution at all times.
He particularly appealed to the Chairman to use his second tenure to address some basic needs of the community, and to also run an open door policy where good and progressive ideas would be entertained.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman, Mr. Obinna Otuonye expressed gratitude to the entire people of Amuzi for finding him worthy to serve.
“I may not be the most qualified in all ramifications but whatever qualities you found in me to repose such confidence in me, I promise to do my best and with God on my side, to meet your expectations”, he pledged.
The Chairman who further pledged to run an open door and transparent administration, said this would not be achievable without the cooperation of all and sundry.
“This is my second missionary journey. During our first tenure, we promised to give Amuzi a meeting hall within six months, and to the glory of God, we did that.
“I’m here today promising that on or before December, with the help of God, we shall put up something that would marvel every member of this community”, he said, adding that this would only be possible with the cooperation of all.
“Our Election has come and gone. Everyone should come on board and let’s move Amuzi forward. I plead with our sons and daughters to invest in our community.
“Let me assure our people that we shall ensure to provide access road to every house erected in any part of the community. Development can only come to Amuzi when citizens begin to build houses”, the Chairman declared.
