The Ozuoba Police Division has commenced the investigation of alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl three years ago and continuous rape of the minor by one Preye who was arrested last Sunday.
In an interview with our reporter, Mr Boma Totty, an uncle to the nine year-old girl who is said to be in her thirteenth now, said Preye (suspect) had in December, 2019 came to the house of his female lover who is the minor’s aunty but met her absence.
Mr Totty said the suspect took the advantage of absence of the girl’s aunty and allegedly defiled the lover’s niece who was nine years old then.
Mr Totty explained that the suspect brought out calabash and other fetish items from his vehicle after allegedly defiling the minor, an administered oath of secrecy on her with instruction that she and her family members will die if she reveal what he did to her.
The teenage girl’s uncle said, the suspect allegedly continued raping the minor for almost four years until the family members started noticing the manner the minor was spending money, buying expensive things like jewellery and upon interrogation the minor disclosed that it was ‘Uncle’ Preye the aunty’s male lover who has been giving her money, gift and having carnal knowledge of her for years.
The girl’s uncle stated that the suspect was apprehended when he came to visit his female lover (the Minor’s aunty) on Sunday night and handed over to Ozuoba Police Division where he is being detained.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Grace Iringe Koko, told our reporter she would get back to him when contacted on the incident but she was yet to do so as at press time.
A senior officer conversant with cases of such nature told our correspondent that he had been transfered to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) since it’s a case bordering on alleged defilement and rape.
