The Commander of the Police unit that allegedly extorted N400,000.00 from one Odeyemi Michael was quizzed by Operation Sting Unit of the Rivers State Police Command on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, our reporter gathered.
We learnt that the quizzing of the unit commander of the team came barely hours after the undegraduate who was allegedly extorted met with the Commissioner of Police, last Thursday.
We gathered that preliminary investigation revealed that the Police team that allegedly extorted money from Mr Michael came from neighbouring state and sneaked into Rivers State to perpetrate the act.
Our source disclosed that acting on credible Intelligence the Rivers State Police Command unraveled the identities of the perpetrators and the command they came from, although our reporter gathered that the officers who were directly involved in the alleged extortion were yet to be arrested as at press time.
The victim had told newsmen that the team who drove a red Sienna brought him out of a bolt car at C.F.C bus-stop in Port Harcourt and ordered him to unlock his bank mobile App and checked his account balance.
Mr Michael disclosed that after the Police officers saw his balance they accused him of being internet fraudster.
He said the Police officers forced him into their vehicle and drove him to somewhere in Elele Alimini in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State where they ordered him on gun point to transfer N400,000.00 to a particular account which he did.
Mr Michael said after he did the transfer, the Police officers gave him N500 hundred naira to pay transport.
The Rivers State Police Command was yet to speak on the matter.
