International Youth Day: We’ll Unravel Hidden Potentials Of Our Youths – Khana Council Boss
The Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere has disclosed that the hidden potentials on the youths would be adequately harnessed by his administration.
Dr. Thomas declared this on Wednesday as the people of Khana joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 2022 edition of the International Youth Day, themed “Creating A World For All Ages”.
At the event which held at Suanu Nwika Finimale Hall, Bori, headquarters of the Council, Dr. Thomas said they would do so by providing the needed skills and knowledge that will equip them for the leadership challenges ahead.
He added that emphasis would be placed on youth involvement in politics, community crisis and development.
The Khana Council Chairman recalled that the youths have played active roles in nation building and assured that his administration would continue to sustain youth oriented programmes targeted at creating a world for them.
According to him “when the youths are engaged at community, local or state level, they develop the skills needed to be effective leaders and make outstanding impacts”.
Dr. Thomas, While enumerating some programmes initiated by his administration to impact the youths, revealed that the Khana Youth Policy initiated by his administration is one of the “Safe Spaces” the youths can take advantage of cause it is centered around youth development.
The Former Supervisor for Youth, Hon. Neeka Idemyor thanked the youths for supporting the efforts of the Dr. Thomas Bariere-led administration in redefining leadership and admonished them to shun cultism and all forms of social vices as that’s the only way they can put theirself together and create a world for themselves and generations to come.
He however frowned at the attitude of the youths, for allowing themselves to be used and manipulated as Political Tools by for selfish Political actors, saying that such has only helped in doing our society more harm than good, adding that the position of the youth in every society is key as they form a greater percentage of the active population.
The National Youth Council Coordinator Khana LGA, Chief Hon. Barilugbene Sampson in his remarks, urged the youths to be worthy ambassadors wherever they find themselves, noting that their contributions is important in the quest to “Creating a World for all ages”.
He, therefore, urged them to participate fully in the activities that have been lined up by the Ministry of Youths in conjunction with other organizations.
The celebration was marked with the provision of a LGA Secretariat for the NYCN Khana Chapter by the Khana Council boss, Dr. Thomas Bariere to herald the International Youth Day.
Present at the event were members of the National Youth Council (Khana Chapter), Khana LGA Community Youth Leaders and other top government functionaries.
