Ariolu Begs For Government Assistance Over SARS Road

Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barr George Ariolu, has called on the Rivers State Government to intervene in the deplorable state of the SARS Road in Rukpokwu to further ease free flow of vehicular movement and improve economic activities in the area.

He said the rehabilitation of the road will reduce gridlock on the ongoing flyover construction along Rumuola-Rumuokwuta and Mgbuoba-Location junction.

Ariolu made this passionate appeal during the official flag-off of construction of Sen. Sam Mbata link road in Rumuesara Community by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

He said the SARS road when rehabilitated will serve as a veritable link road to ease traffic for people living within the Rukpokwu and Eneka axis of Obio Akpor.

He described the Governor’s visit to Eneka as homecoming, adding that the community through the construction of the road will be enlisted as one of the beneficiaries of the dividends of democracy that the Governor has given to the people of the State.

According to Ariolu, the chronicle of Governor Wike’s educational attainment cannot be complete without mentioning Government Secondary School, Eneka and entire Eneka town.

He explained further that the school in no small measure contributed to the growth of the Rivers State Governor in the political affairs of Nigeria, adding that the construction of the Sen. Sam Mbata link road is deserving of the Eneka people.

Ariolu who expressed joy over the construction of the road, commended Governor Wike for his tactical display of his wrestling prowess during his days at Government Secondary School, Eneka.

Similarly, the Chairman observed how Governor Wike has deployed his wrestling tactics and prowess to defeat his political adversaries.

Appreciating the Governor’s efforts, Ariolu explained that the road construction will boost economic activities in the area as well as ameliorate the perennial flooding that has bedeviled the community.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike while performing the flag-off reaveled that Government Secondary School, Eneka will be remodelled by his administration before the end of his tenure. He also disclosed that the Traditional Stool of Eneka Community will be elevated and recognised by Government to further promote peace and unity in the area.

Speaking further, Governor Wike recognised the roles of Senator Sam Mbata in sponsoring his Chairmanship ambition which has advanced his growth in the  political affairs of the nation. He also commended the people of Eneka for their continuous support for his administration and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Governor while renaming the road after Sen. Mbata, urged the contractor handling the construction of the road to ensure that the project is delivered within record time.

Providing the project description, The Honourable Commissioner for Works, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, FNIQS explained that the road project will be 5.3km long with approximately 9km of drains.

The Commissioner who expressed confidence that the contractor will deliver the job as scheduled, added that it will be completed within a period of 5 months with the specified quality.

The Managing Director of L & D Nigeria Ltd, contractor handling the project thanked Rivers State Government for entrusting them with such task. He assured the Governor that the project will be completed in line with the required specifications.

The groundbreaking ceremony had in attendance top government functionaries, political leaders, traditional rulers and religious leaders.
