Gas Explosion: Rivers NAWOJ Displays Solidarity With Injured Colleague

In the spirit of solidarity, Rivers State chapter of Nigeria Association Of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has visited a NAWOJIAN and the South-South News Editor of FRCN Mrs Shola Ogungbade who survived a gas explosion in her residence.

The Chairperson of Nigeria Association, Mrs Lilian OKONKWO-OGABU who thanked God for sparing Mrs Ogungbade’s life in the gas accident told her that the visit was to let her know that journalists in the State are with her even in a moment like this.

She maintained that it was only God that can make her survive such an accident and expressed hope that she would soon be on her feet and back to work.

Mrs Okonkwo Ogabu further told her that NAWOJ with the support of some male journalists having heard of her ordeal decided to raise some funds to assist in her hospital bills adding that the gesture is a demonstration of love and care by journalists in the state.

She advised her to be strong, thankful and be of good cheer while praying God to grant her quick recovery.

Responding, Mrs Shola Ogungbade thanked NAWOJ for such show of kindness and generosity adding that God Almighty would reward each and every one of them and protect them from all forms of hazard.

She enjoined women to always love, support and encourage one another wherever they find themselves stressing that there is strength in unity.
