CAN Calls For Unity Among Political Class

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State chapter has called for the unity of Rivers sons and daughters especially the political class in order for them to join effort with the state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to not only rebuild the state and restore peace in the land but to totally stop the wanton cult killings in the land to move the state forward.

The CAN chairman, Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa, Phd made the call over the weekend in Port Harcourt during the lecture presentation in celebration of Apostle Eugene Ogu’s 57th birthday anniversary.

“Enough of this political tussle and propaganda, let us have a forgiven heart and jointly work toward the progress and interest of the state”, he declared.

He made it clear that one would only be remembered for the legacies he/she left behind and so admonished all, to endeavour to leave a worthy legacy.

He further stated that the birthday anniversary of the General Overseer (GO) of the Abundant Life Evangelical Mission (ALEM), Port Harcourt came at the appropriate time and should be used for total reconciliation in the overall interest of Rivers State.

The man of God used the opportunity to pray God almighty to destroy every established evil altar that is working against the peace of Rivers State, adding that the Lord will accomplish the good thing he has started in the state in Jesus name.

On the celebrant, Apostle Ogu, CAN said the body of Christ is proud to identify with him as a unique minister of God.

According to Dr. Dimkpa, “this man of God is well recognized as a unique minister of God who separated himself for the divine service of the Most High God.

He is indeed an epitome of ecumenism, a leader in the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFM) as  well as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)”.

The association further described Apostle Ogu as a father of faith who has nurtured many young ministers and as well reached out to the less privileged in the society.

“Most especially this man of God recognizes the great command to give to the poor and needy”, he noted.

CAN recalled that the General Overseer of ALEM owns and operates a foundation that has given hope and life to millions of Nigerians irrespective of their churches, religious affiliation or tribes, and therefore used the opportunity to challenge other ministers of God and church leaders to emulate this divine gesture of helping the poor citizens of Rivers State in Nigeria through the building of tuition-free schools, award of scholarships to indegent youths and those their parents can’t afford it.

The Christian body equally listed other areas of support which include organizing entrepreneurship training for skills acquisition and empowerment of youths to become employable or self-reliant.

The CAN chairman made it known that these measures will help greatly to reduce poverty, societal crimes and even encourage the unbelievers including the herdsmen, Boko Haram and cultists to be converted to Christ.

“Enough of the political cry of Islamization”, he declared. Apostle Dimkpa disclosed further that the church is currently crying and appealing for the Christian leaders and wealthy Christians to support CAN in the task of spreading the gospel of the cross of Jesus and its goodwill of helping the helpless in Nigeria and covert them to Christ.

He stressed that the unity of the church as admonished by the scripture that “we shall be one” is a pre-requisite for the unity and peace in the land. (Act 2 vs 1, Gen. 11 Vs 1).

Apostle Dimkpa used the chance to urge all Christians in the state to join effort with Rivers CAN to achieve the desired purpose of God in Rivers State.
