Rivers State CP Speaks On Alleged Disappearance Of Property Of RSG In It’s Custody

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka Nwonyi has reacted to the alleged disappearance of property of a syringe company belonging to the Rivers State Government which was recovered from vandals and kept at the custody of the Anti cultism unit at Emohua as exhibits.

CP Nwonyi said when he got information on the said property, he decided to track it bringing them to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt.

The State police boss explained that he moved the exhibits to the SCIID so they would be easily brought to the court whenever they are required.

Meanwhile the spokesperson for the Rivers State Ministry of Health Edna Alete did not respond to enquiry by our reporter on the alleged disappearance of the property of the Ministry at custody of the Police.

Personnel of zone 16, Bayelsa state who shares the same building with the Anti-cultism unit at Emohua section of the East West road stormed the Syringe company on 22nd March,2023  acting on credible intelligence that some hoodums were vandalizing the state Government owned company.

We learnt that about four of the vandals were arrested with items like electric cables, Transformer parts, pipes, generating sets which had been loaded in a truck  by the vandals before they were intercepted and arrested by the personnel of zone 16, Bayelsa state.

It was gathered that zone 16 personnel informed the Rivers Ministry of Health about the arrest of the vandals and some representatives of the Ministry came and made statement .

A source privy to the case told our reporter that, the Rivers State Ministry had approached the Anti-cultism unit to know the status of the stolen items but the Anti-cultism unit could not give a satisfactory answer on the whereabout of the exhibits recovered from the suspects.

The development, it was gathered, triggered the Rivers State Ministry of Health to petition the Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka Nwonyi on the ‘disappearance’ of the exhibits in the custody of the Anti-cultism unit at Emohua section of the East West road as the recovered items were key ingredients  to achieving proper prosecution of the suspects in the case that had already been charged to court.
