Jubilations As Rivers Governor-elect, Deputy, Assembly Members-elect Receive Certificates Of Return

Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers State and its environs were agog on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, as Sir Siminialayi Fubara, the Governor-elect and his Deputy, Prof. Mrs. Ngozi Nma Odu received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The much awaited event saw hundreds of enthusiastic supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), relations, friends and well-wishers mill around the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway office of INEC, anxious to have a peep at the Governor-elect and his deputy.
The situation disrupted vehicular movements and resulted in a gridlock, forcing commuters and vehicles to take alternative routes to their destinations.
Also at the INEC office to collect their Certificates of Return were the 32 House of Assembly members-elect.
INEC’s National Commissioner for Rivers and Bayelsa States, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu presented the Certificates of Return to the Governor elect and his deputy at the brief but colourful ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Governor Nyesom Wike, top party faithful and immediate family members of the recipients.
Fubara and Odu are expected to take over from Governor Nyesom Wike and his deputy, Dr Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo respectively on May 29, 2023.
Members-elect of Rivers State House of Assembly received their Certificates of Return from the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sinikiem Alalibo.
Speaking on behalf of himself, deputy and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor-elect, Sir Siminalayi Fubara sought the participation of all and sundry in the incoming government.
He expressed readiness to take up the responsibility of governing the state prosperously from the superlative performance of his principal, father and leader, Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, Life Bencher, Infrastructure Icon.
He therefore, stated that the door and even windows are wide open to all even the opponents/opposition for objective and collective effort to moving the State forward and higher.
