Former Rivers State governor, Sir (Dr) Peter Odili has expressed delight over the emergence of Rivers State Governor-elect, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
Odili who made his feelings known when he was received by the duo of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the incoming Governor in Port Harcourt on Monday, described the emergence of Sim Fubara as divine.
Dr. Odili who ruled Rivers State from 1999 to 2007, thanked Governor Wike for giving the state a governor-elect with a humble disposition, and expressed confidence that Sim had learned the ropes of leadership, given the closeness with which both of them have worked.
His words, “I have no doubt you will retire as governor peacefully. By the special grace of God, the way you have honoured me, Sim will multiply it for you”.
Dr. Odili who owns the PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS) charged Governor Wike to stand with the incoming Governor, as according to him, Sim is not a ‘run of the mill politician’ but rather a technocrat.
“You have to help him navigate the course of the learning curve of this political nightmare of Nigerian democratic process.
“I have no doubt that you will stand with him day and night. By the special grace of God, he will take Rivers State to a greater height.
‘It’s a big job if you can do it, standing by him, supporting him, taking his fights and holding to Almighty God. Once you do that, Rivers people will continue to honour you”, Odili said.
