Illegal Oil Bunkering: Property Worth Millions Of Naira Lost As Fire Razes Down Buildings

Report says early morning fire last Monday razed down five buildings in Ibaa Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State and destroyed property worth millions of naira.

A native of the community who gave his name as Nelson told our reporter that a tanker suspected to be carrying illegal bunkering product had collided with a building at Ohionu Clan of the Community which resulted in the fire outbreak which lasted over three hours.

Other natives who spoke to our correspondent disclosed that community youths in their numbers used water and detergents to put off the fire.

Our sources revealed that the fire was intense because some of the buildings affected reportedly have illegal bunkering products stored around the vicinity.

Recall that the chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Chidi Lyold in a radio programme at the beginning of the Rivers State and Local Government Onslaught against illegal oil bunkerers disclosed that Ibaa alone has at least seventy-two cooking point.
