The Mgbundukwu Community in Port Harcourt City Local Area of Rivers state have thrown their weight behind the Rivers state chief executive, Amaopusenibo Sir Siminalayi Fubara in his determination to take the state to a higher level.
Speaking with newsmen recently, the Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman, Mr Charles Amadi thanked the governor for his peaceful disposition even in the face of obvious provocation to keep the state intact and remain focused.
He maintained that this is the reason they are happy and celebrating despite the economic hardship. The CDC chairman disclosed that the reason why the community leadership packaged the five day programme of activities was not only to entertain their people but to take the minds of the youths off criminality.
He further informed that the programme started with a free medical outreach for Indigenes and non-indigenes on the first day. The second day witnessed “Egelege” wrestling competition. The third day saw the “Ozurumba” cultural display while the Mgbundukwu Community women dance took the stage on the fourth day. The “Oboni” Mgbundukwu rounded off the activities on the fifth day.”
Mr. Amadi who said his Committee is actually running its second tenure of three years promised an improvement subsequent edition to provoke healthy competition. He further informed that his Committee had sometime in the past embarked on empowerment of widows as well as scholarship grants to the youths
Also speaking with newsmen at the sideline of the event, the Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Mgbundukwu Community, HRH Eze Owabie Tobin expressed delight that his Community is one of the peaceful Communities in Rivers state and pledged to support the Committee in future to accommodate more programmes. He also expressed delight that the state governor, Amaopusenibo, Sir Siminalayi Fubara is diligently doing well in governance. According to the Monarch ” The governor’s dance steps has indeed confirmed that he will do well and it also shows that he was a good apprentice as a loyal civil servant”.
He noted that the governor’s peaceful disposition and patience even under obvious provocation speaks volumes. The Royal father used the opportunity to advise him to be focus in the implementation of his blue print to take the state to greater level and pledged the unalloyed support of his people to his administration.
