LIG Boss Lauds Gov Fubara’s Compliance With Supreme Court Judgment on LGA Autonomy
The State Director of Leadership Initiative Group (LIG), Mr. Justice Chizi Ekpemandu has commended Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara for ensuring the state’s compliance with the Supreme Court judgment on Local Government Area (LGA) autonomy.
The LIG boss who spoke to journalists on Sunday while reacting on last Saturday’s local government elections across the state, said the conduct of the polls demonstrates the governor’s commitment to adhering to the Supreme Court judgment and President Bola Tinubu’s 3-month timeline for transitioning to democratically elected leaders.
According to Ekpemandu, non-compliance would have severe economic and developmental consequences for the state.
“The Supreme Court order supersedes any other court order, and the message is clear,” he emphasized.
The LIG leader praised Governor Fubara for averting the impending consequences of non-compliance, noting that resisting the LGA election outcome undermines Rivers State’s economic growth and development.
“We should all be grateful to the governor of Rivers state for averting the impending consequences of non compliance with the Supreme Court judgement of LGA to transit to elected leaders and the 3 months timeline given by President Bola Tinibu”, he stated.
Ekpemandu concluded: “This milestone ensures our state remains on the path to progress and prosperity,”.
