Smiles, Encomiums As Rumuohia People Share Xmas Gifts From IAUE VC
The people of Rumuohia community at Emohua Local Government Area, in Rivers State are beaming with smiles after receiving generous gifts from the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Okechuku Onuchuku.
On December 22nd, the community witnessed the annual gift-giving event, where women and youths received bags of rice and cash gifts.
Speaking with our correspondent, Prof. Onuchuku explained, “This is a normal Christmas thing I do for my village women and youths.
So today, I was there to deliver rice to the women of the community of Rumuohia Emouha. That is where l come from.
He continued, ” And I also gave them some cash to help in cooking and eating the rice. I also met with the youths and gave them cash too.”
The professor emphasised that the elders of the community were not forgotten, stating, “then the elders in the community l gave them cow and cash too.”
He further explained that this act of kindness is a yearly tradition to support his community during the festive season.
The renowned economist also revealed that a week prior, his wife’s foundation had provided essential commodities to widows in the entire Ikwerre district of Assemblies of God Church. He said: ”My wife also has a foundation where we have to identify widows and give them rice, cash and wrappers. ”
