Aisha Buhari, the wife of the late former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared an emotional message her husband left behind for the nation.
In a heartfelt statement, she revealed that the former president, before his passing, asked her to convey a final request to the Nigerian people — to seek their forgiveness for any wrongs he might have committed while in office.
According to Aisha Buhari, the former leader frequently spoke about his imperfections after leaving office in 2023. He often reminded her that, as a human being, he was not perfect and acknowledged that some of his decisions may have hurt or disappointed Nigerians.
“Since he stepped down from office, he repeatedly told me that if he were to pass away before I do, I should ask Nigerians to forgive him,” she said. “He always reminded me that he was only human — capable of doing good, but also of making mistakes.”
She continued, “That’s why I am here today. Before he is finally laid to rest, I am humbly asking on his behalf that Nigerians forgive him for any pain, hardship, or disappointment they may have experienced during his administration.”
