Hope was restored and lives were saved following the timely intervention of Chief Lesi Maol, President of KAGOTE and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Giolee Global Resources Limited, who rallied urgent support for an indigent pregnant woman in critical labour conditions.
The young woman, said to be about 20 years old and carrying twins, was reportedly referred from Bori General Hospital after developing serious complications during labour.
According to reports shared on a social media platform, she was already seven centimetres dilated and faced underlying medical conditions that made natural delivery impossible, leaving an emergency Caesarean Section (C/S) as the only option to save both mother and babies.
The distress message further revealed that the woman was unable to afford the required medical expenses, including basic consumables such as hand gloves, blood supply, and the initial hospital deposit needed before surgery could commence.
The emotional appeal quickly attracted attention from concerned individuals and members of the online platform.
However, it was the swift response of Chief Lesi Maol that brought immediate hope to the desperate situation.
Responding from the United States of America, where he is currently on a visit, Chief Maol reportedly declared:
“Please, somebody should reach me for her medical bills and support immediately.”
Demonstrating uncommon compassion and leadership, he immediately pledged an initial sum of ₦2 million to cover the woman’s medical bills and other necessary support, while also requesting updates should additional assistance be required.
Following his intervention, the emergency medical procedures were successfully carried out, and the mother alongside her twin babies were delivered safely and are alive and stable.
The development has sparked widespread commendation across Ogoniland and beyond, with residents, youth leaders, and community stakeholders praising Chief Maol for his prompt humanitarian response and consistent dedication to the wellbeing of vulnerable people.
Many observers described the intervention as another clear reflection of his longstanding commitment to humanitarian service, youth empowerment, educational support, and assistance to struggling families across the region.
Community members noted that at a time when delays in medical emergencies often lead to tragic outcomes, Chief Maol’s swift action proved lifesaving.
“This is the kind of leadership society needs — leadership that responds to human suffering without delay,” a resident remarked while reacting to the successful delivery.
As congratulations and prayers continue to pour in for the KAGOTE President, many people have called on other privileged individuals in society to emulate his example by extending support to vulnerable citizens in times of urgent need.
For the rescued mother and her newborn twins, Chief Lesi Maol’s intervention will remain a powerful reminder that compassion, generosity, and timely action can truly save lives.
