Approve My Proposal On Restructuring Before Leaving Office, Sokari Tells Buhari

The General Overseer of Christ Jesus Gospel Link Ministry, Port Harcourt, Rev (Dr) Sokari Soberekon has appealed to President Mohammadu Buhari to implement his proposal on restructuring before the Presidential Election in 2023.

The cleric said the comprehensive proposal he sent to President Buhari and the National Assembly last year has the perfect solutions to the lingering problems of the country through restructuring but was yet to get a feedback from them.

He felt the only reason they don’t want to do anything about the proposal is to continue to embezzle the resources of the Niger Delta and keep oppressing the oil producing Niger Delta and her people.

Sokari who is touted as ‘Senior Advocate of the Niger Delta (SAND), reiterated his earlier position that Nigeria can only be stable with restructuring, stressing that the six geopolitical zoning of the country is God’s answer to the horde of agitations sweeping across the land.

“President Muhammad Buhari should take the bull by the horn and confederate the country along the six geopolitical zones”, he insisted, positing for autonomy of the zones.

“Every presidential aspirant that is contesting or willing to contest should contest in their zones for the vice president. Atiku should contest in his zone, Tinubu should contest in his zone, Wike should contest in his zone, Obi should contest in zone and any other aspirant who is ready to contest should contest in their zones”, he added

“Each autonomous zone should elect a Vice President for a single tenure of 12 years which will give Governor Wike, Amaechi, Atiku, David Mark, Tinubu, Osinbajo, Peter Obi and other persons willing to become Vice Presidents to contest in their zones”, he said.

Sokari, reputed to have secured the 13 percent oil derivative when he confronted the visiting President Shehu Shagari in 1981, suggested that the office of the President General should be created to rotate among the Vice Presidents in which each should serve as the President General for two years.

This, he believes, would absorb the billions of Naira spent on elections every four years for the development of the various zones and reduce the tensions caused by elections every four years.
